Shisha, cocktails and pizza: a winning combo in Melbourne’s culture and foodie scene. Locals are privy to Sydney road and Lygon street—the main drags for these indulgences—but now Brunswick street, Fitzroy, is a refreshing contender with Blackout: a newly-opened restaurant and shisha lounge serving wood-fired pizza, craft beer, cocktails and a delicious range of shisha flavours.

It’s all about the vibes here—only good ones are allowed (read: ‘Fuck your bad vibes’). Split across two stories, the venue is the sort of place to lose all track of time; immersed in a neon-lit ambience; enshrouded in fragrant smoke clouds as the drinks and music keep flowing until the early hours. The dining hub is located on the ground floor with a long bar and wood-fire pizza oven on display. Head upstairs, bevs and mates in tow, to savour a pipe, or sit out the front on Brunswick street and get amongst the buzz and people-watching.

Their menu extends to pasta, burgers and, a crowd favourite, fries smothered in thick melted cheese. The cocktail connoisseurs can whip up anything your thirsty heart desires: from the classics, like gin and tonic, to their signature menu including the decadent ‘El Loco’ with passionfruit, white chocolate, white tequila and Cointreau.
