Set in a tiny cottage that was once the heart of Melbourne’s former red light district, Little Lon is the new hole in the wall distilling gin on site.

Little Lon’s colourful history reveals tales of sly grog trading, crime and prostitution, which inspired owner Brad, to create his small batch jenever gin. The spirit is distilled from scratch using a mash and wash with Australian-grown malted barley, yeast and good ol’ Melbourne water.

The unique menu offers an array of gin botanicals, served neat or mixed in a cocktail. With a nod to Melbourne’s historical (and perhaps notorious) characters, concoctions include Ginger Mick, Constable Proudfoot and a lychee-flavoured special, Little Miss Yoko. Of course, there’s also the star of the distillery, which is definitely worth a squiz – the gorgeous 200 litre copper column still.
